So of course a Black Block has risen up at this protest. And numerous other blocks are no doubt operating in and around it. No doubt there is no 'central control and command' of these groups so they are a disparate group of people who are determined to fight for change. And the media is instantly hyping the clashes. Interestingly for a change they are distancing themselves from suggesting that the whole protest is involved. That is a new tactic for the media. Usually a few smashed windows and suddenly everyone on the street is an insurgent waiting to cut loose. But for once the Sky coverage has backed off a bit on that line. They are saying there are "two protests" the "Peaceful One" and the splinter "Violent One".
This new tack is probably because of two things. First the sheer numbers on the street at the 'Peaceful Protest' would mean Sky knows it would be alienating enough of its own viewer base if it tried to tar them all as Insurgents. And secondly the Western media has boxed itself into an interesting hole in the past few months with its coverage of the Middle East uprisings. By praising the "Peaceful Protests" across the region they would be finding themselves in a bit of a hypocritical corner if they completely blasted the protests today in London on the back of that. Too much hypocrisy for even these slime balls to worm their way out of. So we have this strange reporting that is trying to paint two types of protest. One "good" the peaceful sheep who dutifully marched where they were told hung out in a park and listened to more mouthpieces of the system give some speeches (yeah Ed Milliband and his fellow Bilderberg cronies are really the answer?? LOL). And the other "Bad" one that actually directly attacked the targets that are at fault here. The HSBC bank and various other targets.
But this is still completely schizophrenic reporting. As it was only a few months ago that these same news channels were reporting on the 'heroic' 'peaceful' protesters in Cairo. "Peaceful Protesters" that engaged COMPLETELY in direct action. What the hell do you think THIS was:
How could they have been reporting glowing reports on these events only a month ago and now as they watch these scenes from London they tut and talk to the police minister they have on set with them and say "oh dear such despicable behaviour such shocking scenes for everyone to be witnessing in London"
Has everyone REALLY got such a short memory?? Why is it okay for the Third World to have Revolution but we cant in the West? "Oh no its despicable we must only have Peaceful Protest". And also in the Egyptian experience the Western media was very quick to suggest that some of the trouble makers were in fact plain clothed police stirring up trouble. But in the UK that could never be the case its only evil 'anarchist' groups behind it all??
Ed Milliband was quick to condemn the 'anarchists'. And yet he said that the rally as a whole drew on such idealogical well springs as the Civil Rights movement in the US. Something Obama also constantly harps on. They hold this up as the epitome of "Peaceful Protest movements". Perhaps I'm missing something and reading from a different history book but I seem to remember some similarly large (if not larger really) clashes during that struggle. I mean there were freaking troops on the streets of the Capital city Washington at points during that upheaval:
Of course the ultimate hypocrisy of this whole thing is that the backdrop of this is occurring against a recent UK incursion into Libya. An incursion that has been sold to us as needed to help protect the "Peaceful Protesters" who have been so horribly assaulted (and really they have). So the media has been drumming into us how brave these peaceful protesters are. But how can you harp on about Libya's brave peaceful protesters when they are bloody armed to the freaking TEETH!?!?!?! This leads us to the now ridiculous comparison:
PEACEFUL PROTESTERS (GOOD GUYS)
VIOLENT PROTESTERS (BAD GUYS)
Are you f@#ing serious??? The Disinformation is now so deep and tangled that it is just leading them to all sound so retarded. Come on Western Media. At least present us with a coherent story line even if you do have to keep lying through your teeth to us. You are just complete clowns now. The information minister of Iraq WOULD be proud.
Another great irony is that those who are deploring that 'violence' is breaking out on the streets of London keep harping on how at the "Peaceful" protest the numbers are the largest seen since the mass movement against the Iraq war. And you wonder why more and more are being attracted to the more direct action groups?? Millions marched to a park and listened to some speeches before that war and guess what NOTHING HAPPENED. The war still went ahead. So we know that marching to a park and listening to some speeches changes NOTHING. Governments in the west no longer listen to populist movements. Only more hardened action can begin to change anything and Cairo showed the whole world the way on that one.If any protesters from London happen to be reading this tonight I hope you guys don't just spend a day cause havoc and then go home. Cairo also teaches us that full scale occupation of the city center for an indefinite amount of time is all that is going to hope to begin to bring about change. Take one of London's squares and don't leave till the job is done!!!!! Peaceful or violent that will be the only type of protest that will have a hope of breaking through the firewalls the ruling elites of the world have established around themselves at this point in history.
[sparx says: excellent round up of the event, WhiteyRoundEyes. However I am gonna have to give the kids [e]props for possibly my all time favourite piece of [un]ironic graffiti so far this year. I love this for so many reasons, but mostly I love it coz I can easily imagine some little punk writing this and being congratulated by his mates: "Good work man, maybe now people will finally Read CHOMSKY!"]
